GROUP MENTORING FOR BCIA-EEG CERTIFICATION

Stress Therapy Solutions (STS) is determined to promote certification for neurofeedback providers. There is a growing interest in becoming EEG certified by The Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA). Certification promotes professionalism in our industry and may one day become the standard of achievement for all practitioners. Of all of the steps needed to obtain certification most candidates have found the 25 hours of mentoring (formally called supervision) to be the most challenging. Typically, there is difficulty finding a qualified mentor; furthermore, the cost of mentoring can be prohibitive for those just getting started with neurofeedback. Consequently STS will be conducting online group mentoring to fulfill most of the 25 hour requirement.

Group participation will likely be less expensive than obtaining one-on-one supervision. There will be three levels of mentoring: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Participants will need a high speed internet connection as well as a landline telephone in order to participate. STS began offering group online classes in October of 2006. Classes will be held at the same time each week. STS instructors will be provide training at all three levels.

Participants will be required to make presentations and provide proof of their progress. Classes will be limited to 10 students who are familiar with BrainMaster 2.5 software. Participants will have already completed BCIA certification training (36 didactic hours). Certificates will be awarded at each level of mentoring completed. Classes will be held at various times during the year. Currently, we are registering candidates for the 5-hour beginner course: $325.
