AGENDA (Three Day Workshop Schedule)

Day One: 9am – 9pm. Complimentary BrainMaster workshop day! Thomas Collura and Bill Mrklas: Foundations of Slow Cortical and DC. Working knowledge and applications of Slow Cortical and DC neurofeedback using BrainMaster Atlantis systems.
*Evening: BrainMaster software and hardware practicum with Bill Mrklas.

Day Two: Jay Gunkelman: 9am – 5 pm. EEG/qEEG from basic EEG generators and artifacting to qEEG interpretation. The day will finish with the phenotype model with the talk ranging from basic rhythm generators and brain systems underlying the patterns, to NF interventions and medication responses predicted

Objectives Day Two:
* Attendee with be able to differentiate a subtype from a phenotype
* Attendee will identify specific generators for the classical rhythm bands
* Attendee will identify the one responding phenotype (of the 11 phenotypes)
that responds positively to stimulant medication.

Day Three : 9am – 5pm. A presentation starting with the mind/brain/consciousness model. This will be a more in-depth focus on the DC or “infraslow” EEG system and the implications for clinical intervention with both Slow Cortical Potential NF and Transcranial DC stimulation.

Objectives Day Three:
* Attendee will differentiate AC from DC activity Thomas Collura
* Attendee will identify the generator of the DC activity recorded from the brain
* Attendee will identify whether the anode of a DC stimulator will result in either enhanced or reduced cortical function when applied in a circuit

FREE PRE-CONFERENCE DAY OF EDUCATION IS OFFERED

Bill Mrklas presents:
BrainMaster Equipment Orientaion

Price: Complimentary for those attending the Slow Cortical Potential Workshop

Bill Mrklas is BrainMaster's prime equipment specialist. His workshop is designed to help BrainMaster owners to interface BrainMaster equipment with user Laptops. The basics of uploading BrainMaster software and hardware will be covered.. If you have just purchased an Atlantis, Bill will help you to get started and to learn the basics of equipment and operation. He will also present a detailed review of BrainMaster software operation.

Users of BrainMaster will not only benefit from Bill's expertise with the new Atlantis hardware, but they well also find him to be very helpful with computer issues. Users often have many questions such as:

Why can't I see all of my recorded data?
How can I archive old files or email new ones to mentors?
When is the proper time to use notch filters?
What's the best way to download updates for BrainMaster?
What are those fla ing impedance lights on the new Atlantis?
How does BrainMaster software save client data?
How can I get the most from the review page?
How can I save my raw EEG data?
What is the Event Wizard and how can I use it?
What is the purpose of the artifact threshold?

Thomas Collura, Ph.D. presents:
Technical Foundations of Neurofeedback

This workshop will describe the technical foundations of the practice of neurofeedback, including the neurophysiological, electronic, and computer aspects. A signal is traced from its origin in the brain, through the instrumentation, until a visual or auditory feedback signal is presented to the trainee. Principles to be covered include amplifier characteristics, digitization, filtering, graphics and sound, and feedback algorithms. Technical data in the form of digital traces, timing measurements, and statistical summaries, will be presented and discussed. Material covered will not be specific to any particular instrument, and will pertain to all types of equipment.

Each participant will have the opportunity to articulate the technical foundations of EEG neurofeedback, including neurophysiology, electronics, signal processing, and user-interfacing. Understand specifications such as bandwidth, accuracy, and response time, in scientific and engineering terms.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Based on the content of this session, participants will be able to :
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of practical aspects of EEG Neurofeedback.
• Display basic knowledge of how EEG Neurofeedback equipment operates.
• Describe the principles of EEG neurofeedback.
